Are Children Out Of The Question?

One thing that really pisses me off, well one of many things actually, is when people assume that lesbians don't want children. Just because a woman is gay does not mean she doesn't have the maternal desire to have a baby. There are plenty of law abiding tax paying caring and responsible gay women who do have or want to have children - just like there are many straight women who don't want to have children.
Gay women can be just as good mothers as straight women, two gay women can do a brilliant job of bringing up a child, they can do a lot better of a job than a lot of straight parents who abuse or victimise their children/claim benefits and do drugs/don't feed and care for their children properly.

The ways in which lesbians can have children are as follows:

• Artificial insemination-although this can be costly, it does mean one of the women can have a biological attachment to the child, sperm is usually from a sperm donor and the donation can be open or closed (open means once the child reaches 18 they can attempt to find out who their paternal parent is) and closed (that can't happen). I'm pretty sure you can use sperm from a friend too - and a lot gay men donate sperm to lesbians (aren't the gay community generous!)
• Adoption. Often a long waiting list and the children/babies sometimes go to straight parents first which is ridiculously unfair, but it is a lovely caring thing to do - adopting children/babies and giving them a loving family. After all there are too many people in our world as it is, so technically gay people are doing the population overload a favour by generally not reproducing!
• Artificial insemination like the above but instead of putting the eggs back into the same woman they came from they put the eggs in her partner and then both women have a connection with the baby - one of them is biologically related and the other gave birth, how cute!
• This amazing new way which isn't practised yet but hopefully it will be in the future.....TWO WOMEN CAN HAVE BIOLOGICAL CHILDREN TOGETHER! Scientists have found a way - don't ask me how - to turn a woman's eggs (or was it marrow?) into sperm and then they can fertilise her partner's eggs and the outcome is a baby that is biologically related/looks similar/inherits all the stuff humans inherit from their parents to BOTH WOMEN! 

So there, lesbians can/do/will/shall have babies. And everyone who says a child needs a mother and a father, well take this into consideration:

• There are masses of single/lone parents
• Gay parents can be good parents 
• Plenty of straight parents are terrible parents
• Sadly lots of children only have a mother or a father because their other parent has died
• Gay parents have to go through a lot of time, effort and money to have children so it isn't a mistake/result of a one night stand etc etc etc like it can be with straight pregnancies
• Having two mums is better than having none at all
• Two mum families are very cute!
• Children do NOT need both a mother and a father to grow into happy, healthy children
